Producer Jay Ruston says that Anthrax vocalist Joey Belladonna “is a trooper.” The pair are firmly locked away in a studio laying down the vocals for the new Anthrax album. Krista Belladonna has sent us photos of the studio work in progress.
“Every take I do has to be full of energy and full of impact,” Joey Belladonna told us, “so I’m knocking down every chair in the room to get to the other side, just trying to get something really, really magical.”
“This is our first week working on vocals,” said Ruston, Anthrax’s longtime producer. “Joey really is a trooper, and he can sing and sing for hours.”

In May this year, MetalTalk reported that Anthrax’s Scott Ian, Charlie Benante, and Frank Bello had been in the studio with Ruston, laying down basic tracks.
There is no title nor release date at this time, but this will be the band’s long-awaited first new album since 2016’s internationally critically-acclaimed, For All Kings.
The penultimate date of Anthrax’s 2022 UK tour saw a sold-out venue, a rabid audience and three bands all intent on bringing the noise. MetalTalk’s Paul Hutchings reported from Bristol.
There might not have been a ruby in sight, but as 40th anniversaries go, this one was pretty spectacular.
Forty years in the industry, Anthrax have been through huge highs and crushing lows but remain a seminal band of the Thrash genre.
With Slayer in retirement and Metallica cardigan-clad luvvies, it’s down to Megadeth and Anthrax to keep the Big Four’s flag flying.
And with due respect to Mr Mustaine, it’s the New York quintet who still excite most in the live setting. The crown of Thrash Metal sits with Anthrax. For All Kings!!
