With his music career for 40 years now, Poison frontman Bret Michaels succeded to make his name known in the rock music scene. Even after the Poison’s split, he was known for his contributions to glam metal. His life both in and outside of Poison has been filled with many musical triumph and personal challenges. Early Years and Formation of Poison

Born on March 15, 1963, in Butler, Pennsylvania, Bret Michaels showed an early interest in music. He co-founded Poison in the early 1980s, and the band quickly gained recognition in the glam metal scene. After the release of their debut album, ‘Look What the Cat Dragged In,’ in 1986, the record marked the beginning of their journey.

Poison’s Rise to Fame

During the late 1980s and early 1990s, Poison started to make its way to became one of the prominent bands in the glam metal. Their 1988 hits ‘Every Rose Has Its Thorn’ and ‘Nothin’ but a Good Time,’ topped the charts and ultimately started to make their way to fame. Bret Michaels’ dynamic stage presence and distinct vocals contributed significantly to Poison’s popularity.

Health Challenges and Perseverance

At the ripe age of six, the rocker got diagnosed with diabetes after falling ill and staying in the hospital for three weeks. Since his diagnosis, Michaels has consistently been taking insulin needles every day.

His struggles with his life did not end with diabetes. In 2011, the rocker had to go through a heart surgery to fill the hole in his heart that was discovered after he suffered from a mini-stroke. Fortunately, the surgery went well and now he is healthy.

The rocker also went through a a near-fatal brain hemorrhage. According to his words, the stroke sounded and felt like a gunshot. Thankfully, the rocker underwent surgery and healed well.

Involvement in Reality TV and Entrepreneurship

In addition to his music career, Bret Michaels gained recognition through reality television. He starred in popular shows such as ‘Rock of Love’ and ‘The Celebrity Apprentice,’ revealing different facets of his personality to a wider audience. Beyond television, Michaels ventured into entrepreneurship, launching various products and ventures that expanded his brand. Although he says it’s challenging, following his passion made the rocker successful with his job.
