In 2021, Marilyn Manson became the center of a controversy when several women, including his ex-fiancé Evan Rachel Wood, accused him of abuse and sexual assault. He denied these claims while, following a 19-month investigation, California district attorney George Gascón determined that the case lacked sufficient evidence for charges.

Meanwhile, some of his friends talked about Manson’s current condition after the legal battles, with John 5 saying he was ‘doing well’ and ‘in good spirits.’ But the accusations caused financial trouble for the singer as his net worth went from $25 million to $2.5 million, as some companies cut ties with him.

Musical Projects Gone

Loma Vista Recordings was one of the first to distance itself from the controversy. Right after Rachel Wood’s claims in 2021, the company canceled its business deals with Manson and announced the news on X by writing:

“In light of today’s disturbing allegations by Evan Rachel Wood and other women naming Marilyn Manson as their abuser, Loma Vista will cease to further promote his current album, effective immediately. Due to these concerning developments, we have also decided not to work with Marilyn Manson on any future projects.”

While Loma Vista also revealed taking back its support for the singer’s latest album, ‘We Are Chaos,’ the Creative Artists Agency, also representing the actress, dropped its relations with the singer, whose ticket sales averaged around $400,000 in the last two decades.

Manson’s acting gigs also took damage throughout the recent debates.

Canceled Acting Gigs

The second season of ‘Creepshow’ had an upcoming episode featuring Manson in 2021. But the show creator Greg Nicotero decided to replace that part with another episode starring Molly Ringwald to show support for Rachel Wood, as he explained during a Television Critics Association panel:

“I don’t think there was a moment where we didn’t want to do the right thing and pull the episode.”

‘American Gods’ followed suit by removing Manson’s recurring role in the series airing on Starz. The channel released a statement on the matter on X by saying they ‘stand with all victims and survivors of abuse.’

Upcoming Documentary About The Incident

On the other hand, Lightbox and Rolling Stone Films announced plans for a documentary called ‘Marilyn Manson: Behind The Mask,’ which would investigate the allegations made against the singer in detail, as Lightbox Studios’ Suzanne Lavery explained:

“‘Marilyn Manson: Behind The Mask’ tells the definitive story of the controversy surrounding the star, charting his career from its early days through to his being dropped by his manager, agent, and record label as a result of the allegations made against him.”

The two studios still haven’t revealed the release date for the three-part documentary.
