Mario Duplantier recently discussed Gojira’s new album plans and tried his best not to spoil what the upcoming record might be sounding like while speaking to El Expreso Del Rock.
The rocker decided to talk about the band’s future album a bit when the host asked whether there have been any plans for a follow-up record after 2021’s ‘Fortitude.’ Duplantier said:
“Yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah. We work on new stuff for a long time, actually. We have a lot, a lot, a lot of ideas. We have structures of new songs.”
He continued by explaining what the new album might offer to the fans while also trying not to say much about further details that might spoil the process:
“But we are so picky that we really want to take this time to drop something very unique. And why not having more songs to record? Instead of having 10 songs, maybe have like 15 songs; I don’t know.”
Mario then talked about how the band had been working ‘very hard’ to make their next record something they might be ‘very proud’ of:
“We are working on it very hard. But it’s a bit early in the process to talk about the date of release and all that all that. But what I can tell is it’s on a good way. We are very proud of what we have right now.”
What Will Be Different About The Next Gojira Album
The drummer was then asked a question whether the new record would be different than ‘Fortitude,’ their last record. Duplantier said:
“Um, I almost wanna say yes. It’s different. It’s a bit early to say, but I have a feeling it is going to be heavier.”
Gojira’s latest album, ‘Fortitude,’ was released in 2021, and the band has been fairly silent about releasing new materials ever since. However, it seems that they’d be returning with a ‘heavier’ album, though Duplantier tried his best not to spoil it.
