After Korn recently announced their collaboration with Adidas on their Instagram, they’ve faced backlash from the fans for its lottery system.
The band released the following statement to reveal their partnership with the clothing company:
“We’re thrilled to officially announce our Korn x Adidas Originals collaboration, launching October 27. This first collection is inspired by the iconic album, ‘Life Is Peachy,’ celebrating the way Korn has blurred the lines between music, culture, and fashion.”
However, when the fans signed up for the Adidas app, they saw that they needed to participate in a draw to buy the items. If they win, they’ll be notified and can make the purchase. Only the winners are allowed to buy the products. So, some were not happy about the ordering system, as one of them wrote:
“Wait… Why is it going to be so hard to order? Adidas, I love you guys, but this lottery system for a few lucky people to maybe get ahold of the new collection? That is really sad to use that tactic when so many fans want it. The scarcity mentality doesn’t make you guys any extra money, but it does make scammers, resellers, and counterfeiters a lot of money! I’m really sad that we are going to miss out on this collection. Sad that scammers will be the ones thriving again.”
Another fan said, again expressing his dissatisfaction with the lottery process:
“OK, but where is the purple tracksuit? This whole lottery thing is bullsh*t.”
One other fan comment added:
“Ugh, it’s a draw. There is no guarantee you can get your hands on the items.”
The first collection, inspired by ‘Life Is Peachy,’ includes two graphic T-shirts, a hoodie with the band’s logo, and two versions of the Adidas Originals tracksuit – one in black with white details and one with purple sequins.
The footwear collection offers a customized Campus 00s shoe and a bold Supermodified sneaker. Both come with special features like graphic insoles, extra laces, Korn logos, a guitar pick keychain, and a co-branded box.
The collection will go on sale at select retail locations on October 27, although they haven’t revealed the specific stores where the items will be available for in-person purchase.
