In the latest issue of Metal Hammer, Tobias Forge expressed his disappointment in letting down Ghost fans due to a mishap during their summer 2023 American tour, dubbed ‘Re-Imperatour USA.’

In August, a venue in St. Louis, Missouri, asked Ghost fans to remove their face paint before a concert. Fans were disappointed, and some had to quickly remove their makeup outside the venue. Ghost later clarified that they did not make the request and apologized for the miscommunication. Speaking of his first reaction to the incident, the frontman said:

“I was furious. The story that I heard was that it was an initiative taken by some of the security people, who didn’t approve of the band. They didn’t like what we were doing, so they wanted to be mean to these kids, and those kids were really, really upset with that. They told them it was a band requirement. That was upsetting to me. We would never ask that of our fans. We want them to dress up; we want them to come and have fun.”

Elsewhere in the chat, the singer also opened up about the relationship between the band and their fans, explaining:

“Over the years, I’ve come to understand that a lot of our fanbase are, in one way or another, outsiders or that their lives are lonely or they’re struggling with something. It feels like there’s a lot of hurt among our fanbase, and I want to address that. They’ve found a kind of belonging being in this group of Ghost fans.”

Forge also recently confirmed that video footage from the band’s recent performances at the Forum in Inglewood, California, will be included in an upcoming movie project. He gave some details about the film in his Metal Hammer interview, saying:

“We were essentially shooting a film and used two nights of crowds as extras… It’s going to be a film with a concert element. So much of what you experienced [at the two LA shows] will be part of this project.”

Ghost just completed their tour in Australia with three shows, ending on October 7 in Brisbane. There are rumors that the band is getting ready for their next phase, which usually involves a change in the frontman, Papa Emeritus.
