Kathy Griffin recently addressed the comments Britney Spears got for her knife video and the #FreeBritney movement.

For those clueless about the movement, it started after fans started to share their worries for the pop singer. Spears was put under conservatorship after her public breakdown in 2008 and was controlled by his father James Spears. The star had little to no control of her own life, including of needs such as money, health, and even daily routine. The movement started to take place after the details about her private life were made public.

Ultimately in 2019, Britney took it to court. According to court documents, Britney is ‘strongly opposed’ to her father returning to his role as the only conservator of her ‘affairs and finances,’ and instead, she ‘strongly prefers’ Jodi Montgomery after her father stepped down due to health issues in 2019.

During her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Griffin explained why she recently imitated Spears’ knife video:

“I have to keep up with Britney, and let me say something, I also fear the people ‘#FreeBritney’ people, I do. But sometimes a person can be too free. All I’m saying is I love you gays, I love you ‘#FreeBritney’ people, but you didn’t have a plan. No dogs were harmed in my video, you know she had her little doggies running around.”

In late September, Spears sparked concern after the video she shared of herself doing a dance with knives, which led to a visit from the local police for a welfare check. As a response to all the comments she received on her video, Spears assured her fans and followers on Instagram that she was only copying Shakira.
