After a recent discussion on Frank Zappa’s documentary failing to recognize his role during the PMRC Senate battle in 1985, Dee Snider took to Twitter/X again to clear up some points on the matter arising from the comments.

In a thread where the former Twisted Sister member noted he ‘was there too’ with a picture, a user first suggested that he ‘wasn’t woke’ back then and claimed that it was the Democrats who were trying to ‘put a rating system on rock.’

When another follower pointed out the bipartisan support for the PMRC in the ’80s, the user added:

“There were definitely some Republicans, but the majority were Democrats. The Democrats controlled Congress in the 80s.”

To reply, Snider wrote:

“Does this guy just keep getting dumber? Dude, just fall on your sword and put an end to the humiliation. You’re endlessly embarrassing yourself. I was there.”

In addition to the social media comments, the vocalist talked about the hearings and the accusations thrown his way at the time during a few of his interviews. In June, he told the Rocker Morning Show that nobody expected him ‘to open his mouth and make sense’ at the court due to his outfit, which included ‘denim and snakeskin boots.’

A month later, the singer mentioned a change in the politicians’ attitude over the years while talking to Fox 5:

“Years later, I went back with the Grammy Committee to discuss royalties and stuff like that. What a difference 40 years make. When I went to Washington this time, the senators, [Kevin] McCarthy, everybody was running out of rooms just to shake my hand. Nobody wanted to shake my hand back in 1985, but now, they all wanna say hello to Dee Snider.”
