Doro Pesch spoke about Dolly Parton’s move into rock with her ‘Rock Star’ album during a recent interview with George Dionne for KNAC.COM.

Having spent time in Nashville, Pesch admitted she was no stranger to Parton’s impact on the music world. On her admiration for Parton, she said:

“I think it’s great. I love Dolly Parton; I think she’s such an icon. I was 16 years in Nashville, doing songs like because they have fantastic songwriters. So, every couple of years, I went to Nashville, and of course, I’m familiar with the whole scene, and everybody loves Dolly Parton there. She’s like a goddess.”

Doro then admitted the news of Parton’s collaborations with rock stars sparked an interest in her:

“When I heard that Rob Halford and Dolly Parton were doing a duet, it was super, and all the other great guests, that’s amazing. I think she’s such a cool woman. She always says what she wants, and she’s being herself.”

She then continued, putting Parton among iconic names in rock music history:

“I love that she plays guitar with long fingernails; that’s like, ‘Wow!’ I think she’s cool; I’ve seen her on many talk shows; she was always as funny as hell, very cool, young at heart, young in spirit. I think she’s one of these icons like Johnny Cash and Lemmy, some very, very important personality in this world.”

Dolly Parton made waves in early 2022 when she was nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Initially hesitant, believing the honor was exclusive to rock artists, Parton later embraced the nomination and was officially inducted on November 5, 2022.

This set the stage for her announcement on January 17, 2023, when she revealed plans for ‘Rockstar,‘ set to be released on November 17. The album promises collaborations with numerous artists, including Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Elton John, Sheryl Crow, Miley Cyrus, and Lizzo, to name a few.

Pesch’s upcoming album ‘Conqueress: Forever Strong And Proud‘ is set to launch on October 27, a day preceding her 40th-anniversary concert in Düsseldorf, Germany. The album also features a duet with Rob Halford, whom Pesch has long admired.
