The Vince Neil performance at the State Fair Grandstands in Oklahoma City was interrupted when gunfire was reported at the venue’s fairground. The Mötley Crüe frontman and his band were evacuated to a nearby dressing room.
“At a concert in Oklahoma City Crazy night last night,” Neil wrote on X, formerly Twitter, “3/4 of the way thru the set people started running. We we’re told to get in dressing room. There were shooters shooting people. Thank you fans for your understanding.”
The venue spokesperson said that this was an isolated incident between two groups of juveniles. The incident occurred shortly before 9 p.m. when two factions engaged in a dispute. During the altercation, one of the individuals involved in the argument brandished a firearm and fired it, resulting in another person sustaining a critical gunshot wound to the chest.
A scene of panic was described as individuals started running and hastily leaving the fairgrounds after the gunshots were heard. An eyewitness mentioned that it appeared as though people were rushing in a chaotic manner, with children in distress and crying amidst the confusion.
Oklahoma City Police Lt. Jeff Cooper said the shooting was an isolated incident and not an active shooter. One juvenile was arrested on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon.
“Thankfully, we are all okay,” Neil said. “Thanks to everyone who came out. Please stay safe!”
