Mötley Crüe vocalist Vince Neil's solo set at the Oklahoma State Fair on September 23 was cut short due to an active shooter. According to ABC News, the shooter was taken into custody shortly after the incident and was charged one count of assault with a deadly weapon. A second person was also arrested but later discharged. The victim of the shooting was taken to an area hospital and is listed in critical condition.
Neil took to Twitter to state that his set was cut short by roughly a quarter, but later noted that everyone was okay.
"At a concert in Oklahoma City Crazy night last night. 3/4 of the way thru the set people started running," wrote Neil. "We we’re told to get in dressing room. There were shooters shooting people. Thank you fans for your understanding."
"There was an altercation that broke out between two groups of people inside the Bennett Event Center here at the fair," said Capt. Valerie Littlejohn with OKCPD according to FOX 25 News. "During that altercation, one person produced a handgun and fired a shot striking another person."
Littlejohn continued: "There were a couple of other people that were injured in the process of people scattering and trying to get to safety and running, so it's believed that they got injured while they're trying to run and get to safety."
"Guns are not legal to bring out of the state fairgrounds during the time of the state fair both the Oklahoma City state fair and the Tulsa state fair," said Aaron Brilbeck with OCSO.
"Every single gate has metal detectors, if you do bring a gun with you, you're going to be asked to leave."
