In a recent interview with Loudwire, Cannibal Corpse drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz revealed the ‘heaviest, most intense album’ ever made.

Mazurkiewicz has witnessed the evolution of heavy metal, having been a teenager during the era when the genre was sprouting new and distinct subgenres. According to what the drummer told Loudwire, Slayer’s 1986 album ‘Reign in Blood’ is the heaviest album in metal music history:

“What can be said about this album that hasn’t already been said!? The heaviest, most intense album ever made, in my opinion! And yes, the one that changed the game for me again! Lombardo became my God even more so than he already was!”

The bond between Cannibal Corpse and Slayer is not limited to Mazurkiewicz’s personal preferences. In a 2009 interview, the band’s bassist Alex Webster shared the influence Slayer, particularly albums like ‘Reign in Blood’ and ‘Hell Awaits,’ had on him and the band. Webster also noted Slayer’s distinctive dark sound as a cornerstone for many in the death metal scene.

Besides, in 2019, Cannibal Corpse supported Slayer in a North American tour, which ran through sixteen cities from May 2nd to May 25th.

Cannibal Corpse’s latest work ‘Chaos Horrific’ is released today on Metal Blade Records. Featuring tracks like ‘Blood Blind’ and ‘Summoned for Sacrifice,’ it’s the band’s 16th studio album. You can purchase ‘Chaos Horrific’ here or listen to the tracks below:
