Flotsam And Jetsam have cancelled ten shows covering parts of the eastern United States due to poor ticket sales. This is on the back of other difficulties around crew and transport, as the live scene remains packed with bands desperate to tour following the pandemic layoff.
“We had a logistical nightmare even trying to secure transportation and crew for this short run,” the bands said in an official statement. “There are so many great bands on the road right now that it’s making touring very difficult in what is a very saturated market.
“We had an important crew member bail on the tour at the last minute for undisclosed reasons, but the final straw was finding out that the ticket sales were poor.
“We definitely don’t want promoters to lose money booking our band, so we’ll reschedule at a time that makes more sense for them. We apologize to the fans that were planning on coming to see us on these dates, and we hope to see you on tour soon.”
Flotsam and Jetsam rose to prominence in the late 1980s and early 1990s, becoming a cornerstone of the Thrash Metal movement. Despite lineup changes over the years, founding member Eric “A.K.” Knutson and guitarist Michael Gilbert have ensured the band’s enduring legacy, continually delivering intense and impactful music that resonates with both longtime fans and newcomers alike.
In an earlier episode of MetalTalk TV, Michael Alago, famed for spotting and signing Metallica to Elektra Records in 1984, spoke about how he scouted and signed Flotsam And Jetsam and how he identified Jason Newsted as Metallica’s next bass player.
