Iron Maiden has had a pretty busy 2023. The band has been out on the road for their Future Past Tour – celebrating both Senjutsu and Somewhere In Time – and is slated to headline one of the nights at the upcoming Power Trip festival this October. So what comes after Power Trip for Iron Maiden? Maybe a full-on North American tour? Only vocalist Bruce Dickinson knows.
In a video update from the band, Dickinson said there are post-Power Trip plans and that fans "will be happy."
"We're just coming to the end of the first 35 shows, something like that. And we're having a little, a little break, not too much. And then we've got three Canadian shows [in September and October], which will be great to go on a little run around Western Canada. And then we go out to the desert for Power Trip. Something else will happen. I can't tell you what. But you'll be happy."
Catch Iron Maiden at one of the few Canadian dates below and keep an eye out for more tour dates maybe soon?
9/28 – Calgary AB, Scotiabank Saddledome
9/30 – Edmonton AB, Rogers Place
10/2 – Vancouver BC, Rogers Arena
As for Iron Maiden's overall plans for touring as much as they can, bassist Steve Harris put it frankly in a recent interview – who knows how much longer Iron Maiden will be around. Which feels truer than ever now that drummer Nicko McBrain sadly had a stroke in January.
"Who knows for sure? At the moment we want to tour as much as we can. But even if we did semi-retire [from playing live], we could still make albums. I don't know. We'll see.
"I always thought that it would be nice to make fifteen albums, which we've surpassed. It's all downhill from here, isn't it? [Laughs.] But each of us is still enjoying it – possibly more than ever – maybe because we know that we're coming towards the end. We try not to think too much about that, but so long as everyone still enjoys what we do we'll keep on going as long as we can."
