The Raven Age continue their Heavy Metal march (75+ million streams) with their epic new single, Forgive And Forget, along with a video filmed in Laredo Western Town, which finds the cowboys battling dodgy saloon card games and zombies. The song is taken from the new album Blood Omen, due 7 July via Music For Nations/Sony Music.
“We wanted to try something completely different with Forgive And Forget”, says singer Matt James of the film which the band themselves directed. “We wanted to follow on from our two recent singles, Serpents Tongue and Parasite, with the horror vibe but with a spin and to see how far we could push it. Cowboys and zombies definitely felt like something unique, and we found the perfect location to make it happen.”
Forgive And Forget is yet another example of the rewards their impressive maturity and wonderful development the band have shown over time. The track is upbeat and catchy but still bears the band’s signature ambition and heaviness. “It’s about letting go of old demons and not letting unwanted memories shape your future,” lead guitarist and songwriter George Harris said of the new song.
The new album Blood Omen finds The Raven Age delivering choruses made for arenas, with riffs taut, direct and going straight for the jugular. This time around, the band are finally able to realise their ambitions of using real strings. “Watching a string quartet play along to our songs was a whole new experience,” says George. “They just made everything more dramatic.”
Currently on tour with Iron Maiden, alongside playing some of the biggest rock and metal festivals this summer, The Raven Age embark on their own major headline tour in the autumn.
