Anthrax have been hard at work laying the foundations for the band’s long-awaited new album. No title or release date is known at this time, but Scott Ian, Charlie Benante, and Frank Bello have been in the studio with producer Jay Ruston, laying down basic tracks for the follow-up to 2016’s For All Kings.
Once the basic tracks are completed, singer Joey Belladonna will record his vocals, and lead guitarist Jonathan Donais, will add his leads and solos.
This news may help European fans in some small way get over the disappointment that they will not experience the band live this summer.
“To all our friends in Europe,” Anthrax said in a statement read last month, “due to a series of logistical and scheduling issues, we won’t be able to make it to Europe this summer for the festivals we were set to perform at. We’re really disappointed about this and want you to know that a solid – and overdue – European tour is a priority for us. Lots of exciting things are in the pipeline, so stay tuned.”
The band are certainly still on fire. “Anthrax stands stronger and more energetic than ever,” MetalTalk’s Shannon Wilk said of their performance with Black Label Society and Exodus earlier this year.
“It’s the New York quintet who still excite most in the live setting,” Paul Hutchings said of Anthrax during their last UK Tour. “The crown of Thrash Metal sits with Anthrax. For All Kings!!”
