Diamond Head / Brian Tatler Joins Saxon for Summer Festival Appearances

Saxon has announced that Diamond Head guitarist Brian Tatler “will be appearing” with the band. Tatler, the founding member of NWOBHM early influencers Diamond Head, is expected to cover Paul Quinn’s role in the summer festival appearances Saxon has arranged. However, we are waiting on the full details of his new role.

Saxon announced last month that “after much soul searching, our great friend and fellow warrior” Paul Quinn had stepped back from touring with the band.

“After many years on the road, with the subsequent stress and tiredness that accompany long tour schedules, Paul doesn’t want his performance to suffer and let his fellow bandmates and fans down,” a statement said.

The March Saxon European tour was curtailed when Biff Byford caught Covid-19.

Saxon’s first scheduled festival performance is at Rockwave Festival on 7 July 2023 in Athens, Greece.

At the recent show at the 3Olympia Theatre in Dublin, MetalTalk’s Brian Boyle described their performance as “an unbelievable shift for a band with a combined age of nearly three and a half centuries. Classic Metal at its very best. Young bucks, take note. This is how you do it.”
