Twisted Sister will play their first show since breaking up in 2016 at the Metal Hall Of Fame gala on January 26, and they're taking Mike Portnoy with them.
Portnoy revealed the news in an interview with the The Chuck Shute Podcast, saying "we've known that we're playing for months now. I think it was only kind of made public [a few days ago]." He later added "Steve Vai and myself are inducting them into this Metal Hall Of Fame, and then we'll be performing a few songs there at the ceremony."
Portnoy previously filled in with Twisted Sister in 2015 and 2016 after the death of drummer A.J. Pero. Tickets for the Metal Hall Of Fame show are available here.
News of the reunion show came from from Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider, who responded on Twitter to guitarist Eddie Ojeda saying "Looking forward to playing together for the first time since 2016…especially the rehearsal!"
It's not a surprise that Twisted Sister still gets along and would reconnect for a show despite breaking up. In a 2021 interview with Metal Injection, Snider said the band talks all the time and are open to doing a new song depending on the circumstances.
"As far as getting back together, I would never say never on a collaboration or something," he said at the time. "We talk about… [guitarist Jay Jay French] manages the band now, so he's always putting out these 25th, 30th anniversary [posts], and [we talk about] 'should we do a song? Should we add a track?' I could see doing something together. We love each other and we're proud of our legacy."
