Sepultura supported Pantera last night (Monday, December 12) at Movistar Arena in Santiago, Chile. During their set, Phil Anselmo joined Sepultura for a performance of their song, "Arise". Fan-filmed footage can be viewed below:
Pantera bassist Rex Brown was forced to bow out of the band's fourth show of their tribute tour in Santiago, Chile due to Covid. Cattle Decapitation / Scour bassist Derek Engemann stepped in for the gig. Chile's Futuro FM reported that Brown had contracted Covid following Pantera's Knotfest show on December 9 in Bogota, Colombia, and flew home to the US to quarantine.
Knotfest Chile organizers released the following statement (translated from Spanish): "The bass guitarist of the band Pantera, Rex Brown, could not perform at Knotfest due to health problems. We regret this situation. However, the show proceeded as normal."
Brown has since posted the following message online, confirming he was indeed sidelined by Covid: "I caught a very mild strain of Covid, but because of our own protocols, I simply do not wanna risk getting my brothers or the crew sick!! I’m feeling better & am on my way to a speedy recovery. Merry Fckn Christmas & see you all next year!"
