Brian Tichy (The Dead Daisies, ex-Whitesnake) has released the new video below, along with the following message:
"I’ve always loved Dimebag and Pantera. Seen them so many times (mostly due to Ozzfest 2000 when I played with Ozzy and Pantera played before us and I got to warm up side stage every night and watch them kill it!) But I’ve never sat down and tried to learn a full Dime solo. So with the recent anniversary of Dime’s passing (12.8.04) and with Phil, Rex, Zakk and Charlie out there kicking butt celebrating Pantera’s music, I figured I‘d have a go and try to work up Dime’s 'A New Level' solo from A Vulgar Display of Power.
"I played this LP relentlessly back then, until Far Beyond Driven came out! Vulgar was a game changer. So heavy yet so groovy, but still gave you choruses, hooks, bad ass catchy riffs and solos right out of the book of EVH and Rhoads! Nobody did it better than Dime! All 4 of them made their mark in a big way and, as they got bigger, they got heavier! Ha!
"So here’s my attempt at some New Level Dime! So much fun to try to learn some of his techniques and phrasing. He played with so much attitude and fire!
Gotta give it up to my new EVH @evhgear @evhstore black n white striped guitar! I love it!
"Also coming through as usual is my @blackstaramps Fly 3. I plug straight in and crank the gain and some delay and that’s it. Makes hotel room gtr playing so much more fun!
"Yes, the audio ain’t the best. I just try to angle the amp and laptop toward the phone so my gtr is a little louder."
