Studio 666: A Fun Watch For Horror Fans And Music Lovers Alike

The State of Horror Films Today

If one takes a look at the state of horror movies today, one wouldn’t be too impressed with the recent turnout we’ve been having over the past few years. Sure, we’ve had some gems come out recently, such as Jordan Peele’s Nope, Us and Get Out, as well as the recent Fear Street series.

Otherwise however, a majority of what’s being released within the horror range from schlocky supernatural films where nothing really happens, or remakes, sequels and retellings of already pre-existing series, which are executed with varying degrees of success, with the Example of Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man remake being a great modern day retelling of the classic Universal film, or on the opposite end of the spectrum we have the recent Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which left a number of fans of the series with a bad taste in their mouths.

With this being said, studio 666 is a breath of fresh air for horror fans and fans of the group, alike. Horror films aren’t for everyone per se, as not everyone revels in the adrenaline rush it may bring, some may prefer to get it from betting and gambling through sites like Unibet Arizona, as it offers a similar rush of adrenaline without the possible anxiety, but to each their own, and for those who are fans of the Genre, and the Band, this movie is a must see.

A Brief Look at the Film’s Beautifully Outlandish Plot

The plot of the movie centres around an exaggerated version of the band Foo Fighters, all of the members of which are portrayed by the actual band members. It is an innovative approach to the horror genre, one that doesn't take itself too seriously but does an excellent job of playing with the novel idea at its core.

The story follows the band as they move into a house in Encino to create a new album, only to find out too late that the house houses an evil spirit that immediately possesses the group's frontman, who was formerly the drummer for Nirvana. The plot follows the band as they move into a house in Encino to create a new album. As The Possessed Grohl compels his kidnapped comrades to complete the record, he begins to brutally eliminate them one by one. This leads to carnage and mayhem throughout the film, with a number of comedic elements sprinkled throughout, a notable one being Will Forte's Cameo as a delvery man.

It is especially impressive when one considers that the rest of the Foo Fighters have built their careers on music rather than on acting. The rest of the cast, which also features rising star Jenna Ortega, American Horror Story mainstay Leslie Grossman, and Curb Your Enthusiasm's Jeff Garlin, also puts on great performances and complements the main cast extremely well.

Upon Release

The Film had released in February of 2022, just a month before the untimely passing of the band’s drummer, Taylor Hawkins and had received mixed reviews from critics on its release. While the film itself is no arthouse masterpiece, it’s evidently one which all who were involved, from the director, producers and all actors involved had a great time making.

And the final product? A campy, fun horror flick which doesn’t take itself too seriously, and delivers everything one would want in a horror film. So if you’re looking for a slasher which doesn’t take itself too seriously and isn’t a mind wrack-ing suspense fest, where you can turn mind off and just enjoy what’s in front of you, studio 666 accomplishes that, whilst incorporating within it, an element of Individuality.
