At The Gates has plenty of material to choose from live, though there's one song guitarist Martin Larsson would love to break out. In an interview with Metal Injection, Larsson said he's a big fan of "Eternal Winter Of Reason" from the 2021 album The Nightmare Of Being. Larsson said one difficulty the band faces in playing the song is that it changes tunings halfway through!

"I suppose a deep cut from my own band that I want to point out is the last song from the newest album, 'Eternal Winter Of Reason.' I really hope we get to play it eventually. There's something with the tuning. We drop in the middle of the song, we drop down [a whole step]. We'll have to figure that out. I think that might be one of the best songs we ever wrote."

At The Gates recently announced longtime guitarist Anders Björler has rejoined the band. Björler originally played with At The Gates between 1990 and 1996, again briefly during their reunion in 2007 and 2008, and then finally between 2010 and 2017. Björler replaces guitarist Jonas Stålhammar, who exited the group earlier this year.

"It is with great pleasure we welcome Anders Björler, one of the founding members, back into the band. We are excited to tell you that we are already starting the work on the follow up to The Nightmare of Being, with the same line up that wrote Terminal Spirit Disease, Slaughter of the Soul, and At War With Reality," said vocalist Tomas Lindberg.

"Anders first show back in the band will be Damnation Fest in the UK in November, and he will join us on the European tour together with In Flames later this year. Great Times! It really feels like a second rebirth of the band, and we are looking forward to this new chapter!"

"It feels like coming home for sure," added Björler. "I have been missing the guys of course, but also playing the guitar, writing music and the artistic creativity in general. I've been watching from the sidelines for a number of years, and I've been very proud of what they have created in my absence. I am really looking forward to writing a new album and getting back to playing live shows again…"
