Kings Of Thrash, featuring former Megadeth members David Ellefson on bass and Jeff Young on guitar, just completed their four-date Mega Years mini-tour which ran October 12th to 15th in California, Arizona, and Nevada.
Rounding out the band is vocalist / guitarist Chaz Leon, drummer Fred Aching, and special guest / former Megadeth guitarist Chris Poland. Each of the four shows saw Kings Of Thash perform the Megadeth albums Killing Is My Business… And Business Is Good! and So Far, So Good… So What! in their entirety.
A brand new interview with Kings Of Thrash guitarist Jeff Young, conducted by Keefy of Chost Cult Magazine, can be seen below. In the video, Jeff discusses how the band united over the documentary celebrating the life of late drummer Nick Menza. Jeff also reflects on his history in Megadeth, his many music projects outside rock and metal, tour plans for the new band, honoring the legacy of late members Gar Samuleson and Nick Menza, building a playing chemistry with Chris Poland, and plans for an all-original EP of new music from Kings Of Thrash. An excerpt, focusing on the sound of the new songs, has been transcribed as follows:
Jeff Young: "They're just demos right now with my guitar and bass and a click track. Soon they'll have drums and it'll be a real version of the first song. But people we've let hear it are really digging it. It's got the vibe of Megadeth — it's on that playing field, but it's got all of its own stuff and all of our influences and some Soundgarden / Tool vibes in maybe the music and melodies."
Videographer Jessica Chase provided BraveWords with footage of Kings Of Thrash performing “502” and “Peace Sells” at the sold out Whisky A Go-Go in West Hollywood, California on October 15th.
