Van Halen icon David Lee Roth recently took to his Instagram to announce that he had just released his rendition of the Kinks classic ‘You Really Got Me.’
In late 2021, David Lee Roth announced his plans to retire after his five shows at House of Blues at Mandalay Bay in January 2022. As the musician said, his Las Vegas shows were his last five. Following Roth’s announcement, many debated whether he would actually leave the music scene or not. In January 2022, the singer had to cancel his LA shows due to coronavirus concerns. Later, in June, Roth implied he could always back away from his retirement decision as there was always a tomorrow for a singer.
After focusing on making artwork for a while, DLR excited his fans with new releases. On July 10, he released a song titled ‘Pointing At The Moon.’ At the end of July, Roth made another release titled ‘Nothing Could Have Stopped Us Back Then Anyway,’ a song dedicated to Van Halen. Following a break, the musician released new versions of several Van Halen songs, titled ‘Panama,’ ‘Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love,’ and ‘Dance The Night Away.’
Roth worked with Al Estrada, Ryan Wheeler, and Francis Valentino on the three Van Halen songs, which Tom Syrowski recorded. As it turns out, the musician recorded another song with the same team. However, it wasn’t a Van Halen classic but a song the band covered in the past. Roth entered the studio to record a new version of the Kinks’ hit ‘You Really Got Me,’ which was released in 1964. He recently took to his Instagram to announce the latest release.
In his post, Roth shared a snippet of his ‘You Really Got Me’ cover. Moreover, he informed his fans that he recorded the song with the aforementioned team in May 2022 at Henson Studios, Los Angeles. So, it seems like Diamond Dave doesn’t really want to retire and leave the music scene altogether. Besides, it’s safe to say that his fans can expect more releases from the musician in the future.
