FOZZY's CHRIS JERICHO Explains Why Singles Are More Logical Than Albums In 2022

Spotify recently hit a point where more than 100,000 tracks are uploaded to the platform each day, and that number is only growing. Which means it's harder than ever to get your music heard. And if you're relying on the model of releasing a handful of singles and then dropping a full album, that means you've only got maybe three or four shots at getting people's attention prior to release.

In an interview with Eonmusic, Fozzy vocalist Chris Jericho explained why he feels moving away from the album model and just doing singles from here on out is a better call.

"We already are working on new stuff, and I think the way that music is released is going to change. I don't know if we're going to do another 'album', per se, because you do 12 songs and every song is great, but once, you know, you put three singles out on radio, that's pretty much the end of it. So we might just focus on one song at a time, just more frequently."

Jericho's logic makes perfect sense – releasing (hypothetically) six singles in a year gives you six different chances to get in front of new and existing fans. And then of course there's the option to collect all the singles and release 'em as a "album" or whatever later on.
