Poison‘s frontman Bret Michaels‘ recently shared a post on his official Instagram account to share his devastation for the passing of his dear friend Loretta Lynn.
The 90-year-old Loretta Lynn passed away at her home in Tennessee Tuesday morning. She was a pioneering country singer who paved the way for women in the music industry. Since the announcement of her passing, many Nashville country stars have been paying the late icon tributes. One of those tributes, however, came from an unexpected name, Bret Michaels.
Michaels had recently spent some time with Lynn at her ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. The two friends even sang Poison’s monster ballad ‘Every Rose Has Its Thorn’ together. The frontman had recognized she wasn’t feeling well, but the news of her passing still shocked him.
The singer shared how heartbreaking it was to receive this news as they had met up and even sang songs a few weeks before. Michaels said Lynn was a wonderful person and a fantastic talent that opened the doors for many other female artists in the industry. He added that Lynn will be dearly missed.
Bret Michaels’ IG post read:
“My heart is beyond heavy today as I have just learned of the passing of my good friend Loretta Lynn. I saw her a few weeks ago, & we sang some songs together. She was an incredible person, an incredible human being & an incredible talent who forged the way for women in the entertainment industry. I just spent time on her ranch, visiting with her & family, singing songs & riding around on the ATVs & dirt bikes. One of the best days of my life was Thanksgiving when she sang ‘Every Rose Has Its Thorn’ in the studio with me. She will forever be loved & missed.”
