Metallica’s Kirk Hammett introduced a very intriguing project on Reddit this past September. The acclaimed musician branched out to share his love for horror with his fans by doing his version of a multi-part online horror story involving horror scores that he created to accompany the episodes.

The guitarist’s project is titled ‘I Have To Get Rid Of This Guitar I Found’ and is a dark, frightening horror story with an accompanying soundtrack that hooked the fans from the get-go. As the story unfolds, it continues to grip the audience with details that get scarier with each episode.

Hammett recently released the latest episode of his online horror story ‘I Have To Get Rid Of This Guitar I Found’ with fans who have been following the storyline since the first episode. To reach a wider audience, the guitarist also released an audio accompaniment to play alongside the story via his official TikTok page.

Kirk Hammett’s online horror story’s fourth chapter’s introduction by Abigail Forte read:

“I recently found a lead that might help search for my brother, William ‘Wills’ Forte. A journal he had written, along with a cassette filled with what can only be described as very unusual field recordings. Seeing as the nature of these recordings seemed to push towards evil energy, I sent the tape to a friend to help me understand the music, who sent it to guitarist Kirk Hammett.

We have decided that while we cannot allow the actual sounds from the cassette to be released, we can share renditions of the music. Kirk Hammett has agreed to quickly transpose the less complex portions of the cassette while keeping the integrity of the original field recordings intact. There you can play or loop alongside the reading of each part, to create the appropriate mood for these journal entries. We still advise you to take precautions before listening to the recordings (such as burning sage, reciting prayers, and drawing protective sigils). What you will hear are some phrases and motifs inspired by the cursed melodies recorded on to this mysterious cassette.”

While no official announcement has yet been made as to how many episodes there will be and when they will release, fans are ready for the journey that Hammet will bring them with this innovative solo project.
