In a recent interview with Total Rock, Tony Iommi shared his thoughts about the love Ronnie James Dio had for his fans. He also mentioned Dio’s gratitude towards fans who wanted to have a conversation with him.

Tony Iommi and Ronnie James Dio have a long professional history that evolved into friendship after years of recording and touring together, as they were bandmates in both Black Sabbath and Heaven & Hell. The two friends who spent their glory days together on stage got even closer during their last tour before Dio passed away in 2010.

Iommi wanted to be a part of Ronnie’s commemoration and recently attended the London premiere of the documentary about his legendary friend. The documentary ‘Dio: Dreamers Never Die’ sheds light on the metal icon’s life from the beginning to the time he became the musician everybody admired.

During an interview on the red carpet before the documentary premiere, the guitarist shared his thoughts about his late friend. Iommi said that Dio cared about his fans very much and loved meeting everyone and creating memories with them. He added that they would always be in a rush, but Dio would stop for a second and make time to speak to his fans. He loved what he did and appreciated his fans for making it possible.

Tony Iommi’s words about Ronnie James Dio’s love for his fans:

“You know… The thing is, he loved his fans. We’d often say, ‘C’mon, Ronnie, we’ve got to go.’ And he’d always see everybody. I mean, you can’t always see everybody because you have to leave; you have to get the flight, or you’ve got to do this and that. But he’d always give them time. And he loved his fans; it was everything to him. He loved what he did.”
