Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale Says It’s A Great Time To Be In A Rock Band

In a recent interview with Kyle Meredith, Halestorm lead singer Lzzy Hale shared her thoughts on rock reaching mainstream audiences. She said more people are discovering the genre, making the experience of being in a rock band more exciting than ever before.

Rock certainly experienced mainstream success during the 1960s and 1990s, and other subgenres, like grunge and metal, contributed to its popularity. However, a new generation of musicians infused the genres and have brought the rock sound into the mainstream. While not on the same wavelengths as the classic rock artists of rock’s prime time, current artists have still reached a broad audience, as many know the names Halestorm, Metallica, or the Foo Fighters.

TV shows and movies have also had a significant impact on the evolution of the genre. For example, the rendition of Metallica’s ‘Master of Puppets’ in ‘Stranger Things’ made room for the song to reach a different demographic. This addition allowed the band and the song to be revived by a different audience that could potentially be the next generation of metalheads. The current high rock has been experiencing has excited contemporary rock artists about their next chapter in the industry, including Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale.

Lzzy Hale recently said this is an exciting time for rock as more people get to know the genre since pop singers are incorporating rock elements into their sound, and mainstream media introduces rock and metal songs. She added that people who hadn’t heard of Metallica discovered the band after 35 years with a rendition in ‘Stranger Things.’ Hale said rock’s exposure to a different audience has made her appreciate being in the rock scene during such a shift in genres in the industry.

“I know their circles are getting tighter, especially with all the cross genres, and all the pop kids are getting into rock now. People are discovering Metallica for the first time after 35 years; you know of extra puppets on Stranger Things. It’s a beautiful time to be in a rock band. I’m enjoying seeing everybody discover that.”
