In a recent interview with Eonmusic, Stray Cats’ Slim Jim Phantom shared his feelings towards the late Motörhead legend Lemmy Kilmister.

Slim Jim Phantom and Lemmy Kilmister’s relationship goes back to the 80s. Lemmy Kilmister was one of the first big names to see Stray Cats perform when they first started out in the industry. Their relationship quickly evolved into friendship when they became neighbors.

Their friendship later turned into a partnership when they decided to work on an Elvis Presley tribute record in the early ’90s that began their journey to form The Head Cat. The duo worked on their side hustle when they had spare time from their prominent bands. When Kilmister passed away in 2015, Jim not only had lost a bandmate but also a close friend.

Slim Jim Phantom shared how he remembered the late Motörhead mastermind Lemmy Kilmister after his passing in 2015. Jim said they were friends and neighbors who had spent so much time together. He described Kilmister as a kind soul that never was rude, impatient, or mean to anyone. Jim further painted the picture of him as a polite English gentleman doing his thing.

Slim Jim Phantom’s words about Lemmy Kilmister:

“Yeah, we were very close with Lem, and as I said, we were neighbors and friends, so I spent a lot of time with him. I like to remember him as a rockabilly gentleman. I never saw him being rude to anyone, never saw him impatient, never saw him wasted; I never saw him out of control. He was a polite, English gentleman, ultimately.”

Slim Jim Phantom is now focusing on his solo work and DJ gigs. The drummer released his new song ‘Speed of Sound’ on all streaming platforms. In terms of his predictions for Stray Cats, he expects them to make a return with new material next year for their fans.
