The six-year gap between Megadeth records certainly wasn't helped by the pandemic, Dave Mustaine's battle with cancer, and a last-minute lineup change.

Now that their latest record The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead! is out, Mustaine revealed in an interview with Loudwire that the band is already looking toward their next effort. Mustaine said The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead! is the first of "many to come" and that the band will be doing a few more records.

"I would say it's one of many to come — this is the appetizer and we're going to have a few more records that are more stomping Megadeth music. When the record was finished and turned in the last mix… the mixing process is kind of like when you're having a kid and you start to see the baby's head coming in and you're saying, 'Come on, come on,' and the record comes out and you spend the next however long the period is (for us, it was six years of touring and supporting the last record). We'd never done that before and it was fantastic for the record. I believe that we're going to have a really great tour for this record."

All we know about upcoming Megadeth music is that the band recently recorded a cover of Judas Priest's "Delivering The Goods" for an upcoming Amazon project. Mustaine revealed in an interview with The Rock Show With Johnnie Walker that the band chose the song due to Judas Priest guitarist Glenn Tipton's massive influence on his playing. "I had no idea how much Glenn Tipton and Judas Priest had influenced my guitar playing until I recently covered 'Delivering The Goods' with my band Megadeth and got to go over all those guitar riffs again," said Mustaine. "It was really revealing to me how much Glenn's playing had influenced me."
