In a recent interview with Radio X’s Johnny Vaughan, Liam Gallagher talked about his relationship with the legendary Queen guitarist Brian May and why he will be avoiding him during the Taylor Hawkins tribute concert.

The late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins interviewed Liam Gallagher in 2017, and the two sat down and chatted about music and the industry. They discussed their favorite artists and bands as well as what they disliked in music. At one point, Gallagher revealed that he didn’t particularly enjoy Brian May’s guitar riffs.

The rocker stressed that he had nothing against Queen, noting that they were a top band in the rock scene. Gallagher then continued his statement by praising Freddie Mercury and added that the Queen vocalist had a distinguished voice. However, the Oasis frontman didn’t hold back when it came to revealing his opinion on Brian May. He firmly stated that he didn’t like how May’s guitar sounded and blistered the guitarist.

Coming back to more recent news, the Foo Fighters members announced that one of the two Taylor Hawkins’ tribute shows woud take place on September 3, 2022, at Wembley Stadium. Gallagher and May might cross paths at the concert since they are both invited to perform.

The Queen guitarist recently commented on the tribute and confirmed his attendance to pay his last respects to his good friend. May and Hawkins were known for their close relationship as the late drummer shared his love and admiration for Queen any chance he got. The rock icon May even went on to call him ‘the greatest Queen fan in the world.’

When asked about a possible encounter with Brian May, Liam Gallagher joked that he would hide from the guitarist if they were to cross paths. Liam stated that he didn’t want any altercations to take place. He also jokingly added that if he couldn’t avoid May, he would just say that his brother, Noel Gallagher, was the one who criticized him.

Gallagher explained:

“I’m hiding from Brian May – because I’ve sl*gged him off. So if I do see him, I’ll be putting my hood up and running off. I’m not running scared from Queen; I’m just saying we don’t want to be getting into altercations on a tribute night, do we? I just can’t be arsed with the hassle. So if I see him, I’ll just say it was Our Kid [Noel Gallagher] who sl*gged him off.”
