In a recent interview with SiriusXM’s ‘Trunk Nation with Eddie Trunk,’ Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor opened up about his band Stone Sour and addressed why there could not be a reunion soon.
Corey Taylor has been part of multiple bands and musical projects, gaining recognition and success for his work with his original band Stone Sour. He later joined Slipknot as the lead vocalist and has been with the heavy metal band ever since. Slipknot is currently on a European tour, and they are promoting their new studio album, ‘The End, So Far,’ which is set to be released on September 30, 2022.
Stone Sour has been on indefinite hiatus since 2020. Their latest project, ‘Hello, You Bastards: Live in Reno,’ was released in 2019, and the band hasn’t announced any new pro since. In a previous interview, Stone Sour guitarist Josh Rand commented on the band’s uncertain future, stating that Taylor was focused entirely on his future tour and projects with Slipknot. Taylor has also commented on the matter, the most recent time being during his interview with Eddie Trunk for his SiriusXM show ‘Trunk Nation with Eddie Trunk’ on August 30.
The Slipknot frontman revealed that he preferred to work with a band that solely focused on music rather than the drama and problems between the band members. He explained that he wanted to enjoy the music he was putting out there with bandmates who enjoy it as much as he does. Corey added that the problems might be reflected on the audience, who is solely there to listen to their music and not to be part of dramas.
He explained:
”To me, I’ve done the time doing stuff in a — for lack of a better term — band situation. And the reason I stick with Slipknot is because that, to me, is the one that kind of started everything. But Stone Sour, there’s still so much drama and issues. To me, it’s just not something I desire to do. And songs in Stone Sour that I want to play are the ones that I wrote in the first place.
So to me, I would rather go out with a group of dudes who I’ve known forever and have a great time playing these songs and have the audience enjoy it because they see a bunch of dudes up there enjoying it than try to force issues on an audience that nobody really wants to be a part of, let’s put it that way.”
Taylor then continued revealing that he loved his current solo projects and didn’t have any plans for a Stone Sour reunion in the foreseeable futur . However, he didn’t close the door entirely for a future gathering with the band for charity or different projects as he added that anything could be possible.
He said:
”I just know that at this point in my life, I have more reason to love the solo thing than I do to try and do something with Stone Sour. Now, am I saying that it’ll never happen? No, because you never know. Something might come up, and we could get an opportunity, and we could get an opportunity to do something for charity, and we all get together, and we do something really, really cool. But my immediate plans right now — there’s no Stone Sour in the future.”
The frontman Corey Taylor is currently touring with Slipknot all across Europe in support of their upcoming studio album, ‘The End, So Far.’ The heavy metal legend most recently released a teaser called ‘The Beginning of The End,‘ which consists of footage from several performances complimented by band members’ voiceovers.
