Recently Queen’s Brian May and Roger Taylor celebrated their former bandmate John Deacon‘s 71st birthday by sharing nostalgic photos.
During his career with Queen, John Deacon gained fame with his talented bass playing and songwriting. He contributed to the band with the hit songs like ‘Another One Bites the Dust‘ and ‘You’re My Best Friend,’ which he composed. He also took on the keyboard and guitar duties for several works.
As the band’s popularity rose, dealing with the massive fame became a hardship for Deacon. Because he was more of an introvert, he usually preferred to stay away from the public eye. Especially after losing his fellow bandmate Freddie Mercury, who made him feel relaxed during his most difficult times, things became harder to handle for him.
After taking part in several works of the band and releasing one last Queen track, he retired from the music industry. Deacon pursued to live a life away from fame, often spending time with his family. As Brian May opened up during a previous interview, the members respected his decision to stay private, mentioning they did not have contact with him. Deacon also declined his offer to rejoin Queen, as May revealed.
Although they do not have a close relationship, the bassist’s former bandmates Brian May and Roger Taylor did not forget to celebrate Deacon’s 71st birthday on August 19. Brian May recently shared a 3-D photo of Deacon on Instagram, saying that this photo took him back to the old days. May celebrated the former bassist’s birthday and wished him the best. Roger Taylor also shared a black and white photo of him and Deacon celebrating his birthday.
Brian May said the following on his IG post:
“Happy Birthday, Deacy! Here we celebrate the amazingly great John Deacon’s birthday in stereo. This flawless conversion to 3-D was completed just last night by our dear pal and collaborator Sarah Falk. Looking at this capture of Deacon in full flight – in stereo – makes those glory days seem so close I could touch them. Hope you have a great day, John.”
Roger Taylor said:
“Happy Birthday JD.”
