Grim Reaper icon Steve Grimmett’s family announced that the singer suddenly died on August 15 on social media. His early death devastated his colleagues, friends, and fans worldwide.

Grimmett was part of several bands such as Medusa, Chateaux, Lionsheart, and many more. However, the highest popularity and success came with Grim Reaper, thanks to its well-crafted songs from the first three records, ‘See You in Hell,’ ‘Fear No Evil,’ and ‘Rock You to Hell.’

Even though Grim Reaper disbanded in 1988, the original lineup reunited in 2006 to continue to work on their new works and live performances. They shared two more albums and focused on the upcoming sixth record. Unfortunately, Grimmett passed away on August 15, at the age of 62, before dropping it.

His brother Steve and wife Millie shared their sadness after his death by adding that they wanted some privacy while mourning. None of them unveiled Grimmett’s cause of death, which most fans wondered about because he didn’t say anything about a current health problem.

Here’s what Grimmett’s brother wrote:

“I don’t know where to start, so I guess I will just come out with it. With great sadness and a very heavy heart, I have to tell you all, as many of you know him, that my very talented brother Steve Grimmett very sadly passed away today.

My heart goes to Millie, his wife, my Mum, Dad, Russell, Sami, and Ethan. I will miss you more than words will ever say; love you, bro.

Grimmett’s wife added:

“This is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to write, but it’s with a heavy and shattered heart to say that my beloved Steve died suddenly and unexpectedly on Monday, August 15.

Wait for me, my love, until we are together again—your Millie.

(The family appreciates all the messages we’ve had so far but asks that you allow us to morn).
