Alice Cooper Recalls How His Conversation With Jim Morrison Inspired The Doors Song

In a recent feature on Classic Rock, Alice Cooper talked about his encounter with Jim Morrison and how their dialogue created The Doors’ song ‘Roadhouse Blues.’

Alice Cooper has been known to make an entrance. He has been part of the elevated side of show business circles for a long time. One of the legendary shock-rocker career highlights was when he became a part of The Friars Club of Los Angeles.

The club initially accepted comedians and people who work in mainstream entertainment inside their doors. The reason why the club was prestigious was not everybody was invited. The people in attendance were all selected to be a part of The Friars Club of Los Angeles. Alice Cooper was the only rocker in the club where he encountered so many personalities. Besides the people he met inside the exclusive club, he has also been in contact with several icons, including Jim Morrison, throughout the years.

Alice Cooper stated that he found Jim Morrison very mystical. He revealed a moment they shared when he asked Morrison how everything was going. Morrison’s reply inspired one of the lyrics in ‘Roadhouse Blues’ by The Doors.

“You couldn’t help but get caught up in Jim’s mystique. He was always this ethereal type of person. I remember sitting down with Jim one time. He said: ‘So, what’s up, man?’ I replied: ‘Oh, I don’t know, man. I woke up this morning and got myself a beer.’ And that ended up being one of the lyrics in Roadhouse Blues by The Doors.
