Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg recently joined an interview with Louder Sound and opened up about the creation process of the upcoming album ‘The End, So Far.’ Weinburg gave details about why it took them so long to release a new record.
Following completing the supporting tour of their 2014 album ‘.5: The Gray Chapter,’ the band started to work on the forthcoming record ‘We Are Not Your Kind’ in 2017. The album came out after two years and satisfied the fans enough to make it worth waiting for so long.
In 2021, Corey Taylor informed their audience that they had plans to mix their seventh studio album and added it would be released in 2022. In July, the band announced that the release of the upcoming album ‘The End, So Far’ was scheduled for September 30, 2022. Plus, the band has already released the songs ‘The Dying Song (Time To Sing)’ and ‘Yen’ from the album.
Recently, Jay Weinberg revealed that it took the band so long to release records because each band member brought different ideas. Everybody in the band has approached the records from a different perspective and inspiration. Weinberg stated that the process takes so long because they try to harmoniously reflect every member’s unique taste and talent.
Jay Weinberg said:
“We’re nine very passionate people about what we do, so when it comes to the creative side of things, you have nine creative voices shoehorning into a song. But, what I’m proud to say is that, at the end of the day, we all know each other’s strengths and what we bring to the table, and how we collaborate and respect one another in that way.
And all of those things end up shining through. It takes a long time for us to put together what we’re proud of because there are so many people and lots of ideas, lots of inspiration. The nine of us have very different inspirations from each other, you know. So when we filter what we wanna do creatively through the voice of Slipknot, it ends up being something that’s completely new that’s filtered through our tastes and talents and whatever.”
Slipknot members and the fans are excitedly waiting for ‘The End, So Far’ to come out. The album will meet with the audience on September 30 via Roadrunner Records as a follow-up of the 2014 record ‘We Are Not Your Kind.’
