In a recent interview with Andy Hall of Des Moines radio station Lazer 103.3, Stone Sour guitarist Josh Rand mentioned that the band is still on hiatus while Corey Taylor is working on the new Slipknot album.
Slipknot has always been known for visually stunning stage performances. Their unique costumes and strong lyrics also became the center of attention. Their bond with their fans made them more enthusiastic and passionate about their music.
In 2020, Corey Taylor mentioned Stone Sour’s status when he was on SiriusXM’s ‘Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk.’ He claimed he was more focused on Slipknot and his solo career. Although he is more focused on the new album and tour, he didn’t completely rule out a future reunion with Stone Sour.
When asked about the five-year hiatus since the last full album, the guitarist stated they had no plans to step out to the spotlight any time soon. He added that Corey Taylor is entirely focused on Slipknot’s new album and the follow-up tour. The band will reconsider the future of Stone Sour after the waters subside.
Josh Rand’s thoughts about the future of Stone Sour:
“That’s basically still going on. Obviously, Corey, Slipknot is releasing a record in two months, so there’ll be a full tour cycle of that. And then we’ll see.”
Slipknot was able to release six studio albums during their career. Their upcoming record ‘The End, So Far’ will be their seventh studio album; it consists of twelve songs and will be released on September 30.
