Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea responded to a video of him and Anthony Kiedis having a friendly chat with fans during their tour on Twitter. He stated that asking for photos kills the mood.
RHCP recently released their latest album ‘Unlimited Love.’ They set out to support their album by touring the UK and Europe. Even though Flea had a medical emergency, and the band had to reschedule their show in Glasgow, they have been on the road meeting and performing for fans.
When a video of him and Anthony Kiedis having a friendly chat with their fans came out, some fans claimed they didn’t have a positive interaction as they had. Flea responded to the tweets and said they had a friendly chat with their fans because they didn’t request any photos.
He added that photos felt more like a transaction than human interaction. Another fan tweeted to say that most people want pictures with their heroes. Flea responded that he never asked for a photo from anyone.
Flea’s response to a fan stating they had a friendly interaction:
“It’s because you all generated a kind and gentle light, and you didn’t ask for a picture. We are always down to talk and chat; asking for a photo ruins it instantly.“
The bassist’s words to a tweet about fans requesting photos:
“There’s is nothing wrong with it. But it ruins having an actual conversation. It is a transaction.”
After a fan asked whether he’d like photos with his heroes, Flea said:
“I have never asked anyone to take a photo with me once in my life.”
