Bad Wolves have today released their new EP Sacred Kiss, with Of Mice & Men’s Aaron Pauley featuring on the title track which you can see below.
“Stoked to have you all hear this collaboration with Aaron Pauley from Of Mice & Men,” drummer John Boecklin said. “Sacred Kiss reflects on meeting someone that you quickly fall for and have a preconceived notion of who they are and what it could be, and then quickly realizing it is not what you expected. We made a killer video as well that plays on some of those themes. We had a lot of fun making it. Definitely, our favourite one we have made so far.”
The video is a supernatural affair and features Aaron Pauley. “I think the song absolutely rips,” Pauley said, “so I was stoked when the guys reached out to me about doing a new version of it. I really enjoyed recording the song, and had even more fun shooting the video with the guys.”
The Sacred Kiss EP features some remaining songs from the Dear Monsters session. “With Sacred Kiss going to radio this summer,” John Boecklin said, “we decided to release an EP containing some of the remaining songs from the Dear Monsters sessions. Up In Smoke and The Body will keep your appetites for riffs settled, while the piano version of Sacred Kiss rounds off the EP just right.
“Basically, it’s a little something to hold the Wolfpack over till we get another album out.”
Included in the EP is the single The Body, released earlier in the month. “When we were writing this song we had a goal of trying new things,” Boecklin said. “The slap bass and clavichord instantly was new territory for Bad Wolves. It feels good to know this track sounds like nothing we have ever done before. It’s a fun track that feels like a mix of Faith No More with a dash of Daft Punk. Enjoy.”
Earlier in May, Bad Wolves announced Max Karon returning as their new guitar player. “It’s with great excitement that we announce our new permanent guitar player is Max Karon,” the band said. “The funny thing is that Max isn’t new to us. He started the band with founder John Boecklin in 2014 and was a major writer/player on all three Bad Wolves albums. Being a key ingredient to the Bad Wolves sound, this was a no-brainer decision.
“There is no other person on this earth that would be a better fit for Bad Wolves than Max.”
Karon was equally as happy, saying, “Words can hardly express how thrilled and grateful I am for this opportunity, and how right it feels to be here. Having been part of Bad Wolves since the very beginning, I’m so proud to be joining in full. It’s amazing how far this band has come, and I’m so excited and driven to see how far we can go. I’m looking forward to everything about this new chapter of my life. I’ll see you out there.”
