Drummer Joey Castillo recently joined the One Life One Chance podcast for an interview and revealed that Scott Weiland actually had a lot of plans he wanted to do before departing from this world.

Apart from working with Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, Scott Weiland also pursued a successful solo music career and collaborated with various artists. Sadly, Weiland’s music career was plagued by heavy drug abuse, which ended up being the cause of his death on December 3, 2015.

In 2012, Scott Weiland formed his backing band, the Wildabouts. During his tenure with the band, the singer’s health was failing due to substance abuse. On March 32, 2015, the Wildabouts released their only studio album ‘Blaster,’ which was also Weiland’s final album. During the tour to promote the album, Weiland passed away on the tour bus.

Queens Of The Stone Age drummer Joey Castillo also worked with Weiland. He joined Weiland’s Wildabouts and toured with the band before Weiland’s passing. In a recent interview with the One Life One Chance podcast, Castillo recalled those times and revealed his thoughts on Weiland’s death.

Castillo stated that he was the first person who discovered Weiland’s body on the tour bus. Moreover, the drummer argued that Weiland had a lot of new ideas he wanted to do at the time, and he tried to help him by using his connections. Joey said everyone he talked with wanted to work with Weiland, and the singer was excited about new projects before his death. However, his plans have never been actualized since Scott sadly passed away due to an accidental overdose.

During the conversation, Joey Castillo said the following about Scott Weiland:

I found him when we were out on the road. We were on tour together, working our way back to Minnesota. I was right outside of Minneapolis; I think, because we had a day off when it all went down. He had a lot of ideas and a lot of stuff he wanted to do still. And he was coming up with great ideas for things he wanted to do.

I told him, ‘Yeah, I can help you out,’ and he had me reach out to a few people he wanted to work with. Without hesitance, everyone said, ‘Yes, I absolutely want to do this.’ So, he was super stoked with all these. I was being his ‘Hey, this person said they’re down.’ It was something that he was excited about. And then, sadly, you know.”
