Iron Maiden shared a post on their official Instagram page to announce the cancellation of the Bologna show due to unsafe weather conditions.

Since their formation in 1975, Iron Maiden has gone through several lineup changes over the years. After Paul Di’Anno’s departure, the band hired Samson’s Bruce Dickinson to maintain the group’s success. He once left the group and eventually returned to be part of the band again.

The band has had many commercial successes over the years with various albums. However, their latest release, ‘Senjutsu,’ was their first album in six years. The album reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart, topping the band’s early classics like ‘Powerslave’ and ‘The Number Of The Beast.’

Since their record release in September, Iron Maiden has been on the road that kicked off in Croatia. The band was going to perform in Bologna for their tour when the Italian government announced a state of emergency. Hence, Iron Maiden told that they had to cancel the show in Bologna due to dangerous weather conditions and the safety of everyone attending.

Their manager Rod Smallwood apologized for the cancellation. He stated that they are concerned for the safety of anyone who may be affected by strong lightning and strong winds. He added that they would return to perform in Italy next year and stated that the tickets would be refunded.

The group’s IG post about the cancellation of the Bologna show:

“The Iron Maiden concert in Bologna had to be canceled for the safety of the fans, band, crews, and all concerned due to very bad and dangerous weather conditions, including extensive lightning and high winds.”

Maiden manager Rod Smallwood added:

“The band and l are so sorry we were unable to play for our fans in Bologna last night. As the weather conditions worsened, the promoters came to us concerned about the safety of everyone and the viability of doing the show. They made further inquiries and decided that the event should be canceled for safety reasons and announced this from onstage.

I have to say I fully agreed with this decision and that it was the responsible thing to do considering the amount and scale of surrounding lightning and high winds and having been told what was expected to follow. We love playing with audiences here, and the last thing we wanted to do was not play. We feel very sorry for our fans who were there, and we fully understand and sympathize with the frustration. It is not possible to reschedule this show, but we promise our fans in Italy that we will return next year.”
