Queen’s Brian May recently took his official Instagram account to share that he regretted the second night on their Madrid show because of his poor performance affected by the pain in his finger.
Following the success of the band’s biopic, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody,’ released in 2018, Queen + Adam Lambert announced the worldwide The Rhapsody Tour. The tour kicked off in Vancouver, Canada, on July 10, 2019. After touring in North America, Asia, and Oceania, the band took a break from the show due to the coronavirus pandemic outbreak.
Their UK and European tour were initially scheduled to take place last summer, but the then-conditions were not suitable to perform. Thus, the band pushed the dates to 2022. The European leg of the tour started on May 27, 2022, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and will end on the band’s last performance in Tampere, Finland, on July 25, 2022.
Following their recent shows in Madrid, Spain, on July 6 and 7, Brian May shared an Instagram post to thank the audience and reveal his slight regret about the second night of the shows. The guitarist said they were fascinated by the audience on both nights in Madrid.
However, he regretted the second night because he couldn’t perform at his maximum due to the pain in his fingers. May explained that he couldn’t stay on top because of the hot weather and physical weariness. He hopes he will feel better for the upcoming shows.
The IG caption of Brian May’s post is as follows:
“Wow! I sometimes wish I could see our show from up there. Great pic from Freddie Mercury Gallery from Madrid, second night. Gotta say we all were transfixed by the audiences on both nights. I had a slight regret on night second because my fingers were hurting me, so I couldn’t quite play at 1000 percent.
The heat and humidity and general wear and tear sometimes outstrip my efforts to physically stay on top. But two days off before the Bologna show will definitely help to heal my bones! Thanks, dear Gente de España. You’re truly wonderful people to play to, and our visit was all too short. Hope to see you again soon. Hasta pronto! Bri.”
