The Cult recently took to their Instagram to announce the release of the first single from their forthcoming record ‘Under The Midnight Sun.’
In April 2018, the Cult hinted at the future release of an album, a series of singles, or an EP. However, they felt it would be best to release it when it’s good enough. On April 2 of the same year, the Cult performed along with Stone Temple Pilots and Bush as headliners for a US tour.
The following year, the Cult announced they would embark on a world tour to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release of their fourth studio album ‘Sonic Temple,’ and embarked on the tour on May 2 in Houston, Texas. In June 2019, the band stated they have new music works but no plans to release them soon.
As fans were waiting in excitement, the Cult announced on August 15, 2020, that they entered the studio to record their eleventh album. This album would be their first in six years since their 2016 record ‘Hidden City.’ On July 7, the Cult announced the album’s title as ‘Under The Midnight Sun.’
In their recent Instagram post, the Cult also announced the release of the first single from the album, ‘Give Me Mercy,’ along with a music video. In the following post, they also announced an exclusive boxset for ‘Under The Midnight Sun’ featuring gold vinyl, vinyl slipmat, bandana, and album-exclusive lithograph, with only 777 copies available.
The band’s Instagram post read:
“‘Give Me Mercy,’ the song and video from our forthcoming album ‘Under The Midnight Sun’ are out now. Album out on 10.7.22.”
In the following post, the band stated:
“Pre-order the exclusive boxset for ‘Under The Midnight Sun’ featuring gold vinyl, vinyl slipmat, bandana, and album-exclusive lithograph. Only 777 hand-numbered copies are available.”
