Dead & Company guitarist John Mayer took to Instagram to share that his father had suffered a medical emergency. The band also tweeted that they canceled the Saratoga Springs show due to these unfortunate circumstances.
In 2015, Dead And Company’s musical journey began with three members of the Grateful Dead with the addition of John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge, and Jeff Chimenti. They formed a six-piece group that performed for their fans constantly until the pandemic.
There were rumors that some members would not return to perform again and that this would be their last tour, but the band dismissed this rumor as false information. They recently teamed up with Global Citizen to support the crisis in Ukraine and put on a live show.
They were due to perform in Saratoga Springs when Dead & Company tweeted that they had to cancel the show and would refund the tickets. They also tweeted that they had to cancel the show due to unforeseen circumstances. John Mayer also posted on his IG story that he needed to stay in NYC and take care of his father’s medical emergency.
John Mayer’s statement on why he can’t attend Saratoga Springs:
“This morning, my father suffered a medical emergency and was transported to the ER, where he received much-needed and great care. He is now fairly stable and will continue to undergo some procedures, but as you can understand, I have to stay in NYC and can’t play tonight’s show in Saratoga Springs.”
The band’s tweet about the cancellation follows:
“Due to unforeseen circumstances, tonight’s Dead & Company concert at Saratoga Performing Arts Center is canceled. Tickets will be refunded automatically at the original point of purchase. The remaining Dead & Company tour dates are unaffected.”
