Metallica shared a post on Instagram to express their excitement with the rendition of their song ‘Master of Puppets’ for the latest season of ‘Stranger Things.’
When they first started making music as a band, Metallica brought a new sound to heavy metal with its aggressive tone and fast tempo. They appealed to a broader audience and played a crucial role in heavy metal’s worldwide recognition, later becoming a pioneer as a thrash metal band.
Though they released many successful records, Metallica achieved worldwide success with the album ‘Master of Puppets,’ one of the heaviest albums in the band’s entire catalog. Upon its release worldwide for the first time in 1986, the album received positive reviews from music critics and fans.
Furthermore, this album solidified the building stones of thrash metal for generations to come. The rendition of the song in ‘Stranger Things’ was proof of that. OTTTO member and Metallica bassist Rob Trujillo’s son Tye played the guitar parts of ‘Master of Puppets’ for the show.
The band recently posted a video clip of the song’s interpretation on Instagram and thanked the Duffer Brothers for including ‘Master of Puppets’ in such an important scene. They said they were delighted with the result. They added that it was an honor to be a part of Eddie’s story and among other great actors in the show.
The IG caption of Metallica’s post is as follows:
“The way The Duffer Brothers have incorporated music into ‘Stranger Things’ has always been next level, so we were beyond psyched for them to not only include ‘Master of Puppets’ in the show but to have such a pivotal scene built around it. We were all stoked to see the final result, and when we did, we were totally blown away.
It’s so extremely well done, so much so that some folks were able to guess the song just by seeing a few seconds of Joseph Quinn’s hands in the trailer! How crazy cool is that? It’s an incredible honor to be such a big part of Eddie’s journey and to be once again keeping company with all of the other amazing artists featured in the show.”
