Poison’s Bret Michaels shared an Instagram post about his latest health struggles. The rocker announced that he would be performing in Jacksonville, Florida, after canceling the Nashville show due to a medical emergency.

Bret Michaels has had issues with his health since childhood. He was first diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was six. Later in life, in 2009, Michaels was injured while performing at the Tony Awards.

The following year, he suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and underwent an emergency appendectomy. In 2014, Michaels underwent kidney surgery. Two years ago, Bret had surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff and had another procedure to remove a patch of skin cancer.

In addition to Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard, Poison had ‘The Stadium Tour’ initially scheduled for 2020, which then moved to 2021 and 2022 due to the pandemic. The band had to cancel their show in Nashville due to Michaels being hospitalized with a medical issue. After his hospitalization, the group was going to perform in Jacksonville, Florida, with a shortened show.

Michaels took his Instagram to explain to fans that he needed to take a step back from the meet and greet before the Jacksonville, Florida, show due to his recent medical issues. The musician also stated that he would save his energy for the stage. Finally, he thanked the fans for the support.

The Poison icon’s IG post is as follows:

“To all my friends in Jacksonville,

In light of my recent medical situation and treatment, I’m very excited to try to attempt to bring all the positive energy and vocals and give you all that I have on stage tonight. I promise, as always, to do the best I can and to give you all I got. As for the awesome Poison meet and greet, you know I always give %1000 both during the meet and greet and on stage.

Doctors have highly recommended that I continue to rest and try to save all the energy I can for the show. Therefore I will not be able to be at the meet and greet this evening. I encourage you to go and see the other guys and enjoy the meet and greet. Thank you for all your well wishes and understanding. Florida, you know I love you.”
