Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx took his Instagram to acknowledge the significant milestone of staying sober for 21 years and shared this special moment with his fans.

Known for their unconventional lifestyle, Mötley Crüe rose to international fame a few years after becoming a band. Following their international success, the band members began using drugs and alcohol, and Nikki Sixx developed a heroin addiction that nearly cost him his life.

The group also released a movie called ‘The Dirt’ in which they showcased one of Nikki Sixx’s worst moments. The scene showed Sixx having a heroin overdose and doctors declaring him dead for two minutes before returning to life.

Since his first days of sobriety, the bassist has been participating in various projects to show his support for people who have long struggled with alcohol or drug addiction. Sixx supported the Global Recovery Initiative on the ‘Artists for Recovery’ project and even donated all the revenue of his song, ‘Maybe It’s Time,’ with his band Sixx:A.M. to support the addicts in recovery.

Nikki Sixx posted on Instagram to share a meaningful moment with his fans. He stated that he has been sober for 21 years. The rocker talked about how challenging this path was at times, but living in the moment and choosing what to surround ourselves with will help in this process. He added that removing negativity and focusing on love and positivity will help lead a comfortable and joyful life.

The IG caption of Nikki Sixx’s post is as follows:

“21 years today. The lessons you learn along the way can only be absorbed and put into action by being open-minded and staying sober. I’ve also learned what I don’t want in my life. Let go of the past and live in the moment. For those still struggling, I know this isn’t always easy, but you will not believe how wonderful your life can and will be by applying yourself to these simple steps.

Cutting out poisonous people, being rigorously honest in all your affairs, leading with love, and being solution-based are some tools you will gain. Keep these those close to your heart. Also, a good rule of thumb is over 95% of what you worry about (anxiety) actually never happens, so learn to let go, relax and enjoy the journey.”
