Rage Against The Machine made a statement on their Instagram page regarding the repeal of Roe V. Wade. The band stated they were devastated by the result and heartbroken by its impact on millions of people.

The American alternative rock band is not only known for their provocative political lyrics and social activism but also for a hardcore sound that combines elements of hip-hop and heavy metal. Still, they had a bumpy road during their career and a few hiatuses. The group disbanded and reunited for the second time in 2019.

Not only did they announce their reunion on the ‘Public Service Announcement Tour,’ but they were also scheduled to perform at Coachella in 2020. However, the pandemic thwarted their plans, and they had to reschedule their tour more than once. The group will start playing in Wisconsin on July 9, 2022.

RATM members are known for their public political views, so the most recent Roe V. Wade repeal was no different. The group shared their thoughts on Instagram, stating that they were disgusted with the result and its impact on more than half the US states. They also said they would donate all the money raised from the charity tickets at Alpine Valley and the United Center to reproductive rights organizations in Wisconsin and Illinois. They added that everyone should continue to resist and not give up.

Here are Rage Against The Machine’s words about abortion:

“We are disgusted by the repeal of Roe V. Wade and the devastating impact it will have on tens of millions of people. Over half of the country (26 states) is likely to ban or seriously restrict abortion very soon, if not immediately, which will have a disproportionate impact on poor, working-class, and undocumented BIPOC communities.

To date, our fans have raised $475,000.00 from the sale of our charity tickets at Alpine Valley and the United Center. We are donating that money to reproductive rights organizations in Wisconsin and Illinois. Like the many women who have organized sophisticated railroads of resistance to challenge these attacks on our collective reproductive freedom, we must continue to resist.”
