Anthrax bassist Frank Bello will be releasing his first solo EP, Then I'm Gone, this November via Rare Bird media. The EP is a companion piece to Bello's revealing autobiography, Fathers, Brothers, And Sons: Surviving Anguish, Abandonment, And Anthrax which was published last year, also by Rare Bird.
"I revisited some really dark times in my life when I was writing my book, and writing these songs was the result of reliving them," says Bello about the EP's six tracks. "Music has always been a great outlet for me as a coping mechanism. I felt it was a good time to put out these songs for people who connected with the book and maybe some who haven't yet." Then I'm Gone will be available as a deluxe gatefold vinyl in either a limited-edition purple or white/purple splatter variant, as well as the standard black vinyl. Both are available for pre-order via Rare Bird and Experience Vinyl. Pre-orders will include a digital download code, a vinyl audiobook, and a monthly email with links to additional bonus material.
Bello played all of the instruments except for drums on the EP, and also handles lead vocal duties. While this is his first official solo release, it is not his first musical endeavor outside of Anthrax. In 2012, Bello teamed up with ex-Megadeth bassist Dave Ellefson to form Altitudes & Attitude, and released a hard rock focused 3-song EP. The group followed that up in 2019 with their full length debut, Get It Out.
A preview video for the EP can be seen below, as well as the tracklisting for Then I'm Gone. The album will be made available everywhere beginning November 4.
